It was 6 PM today,
MSI 2024 Bracket Stage Round 3 Upper Bracket
Gen.G and BLG had a match,
and the result was a 3:1 victory for Gen.G,
bringing it to an end!
With this win, Gen.G has advanced to the finals
and secured 4 additional seeds for the World Championship.
BLG will face the winner of tomorrow's match between T1 and G2
in the Round 3 Lower Bracket,
and they will clash again in Round 4 on Saturday.
The team that wins this match will face Gen.G in the final match on Sunday.
Both teams have incredibly talented players,
and as the top seeds from their respective leagues,
the match attracted immense attention
and a close battle was anticipated.
In Game 1, Gen.G
banned Taliyah, Vayne, Jax, Viego, and Jarvan IV,
Kiin picked Twisted Fate top,
Canyon picked Viego jungle,
Chovy picked Orianna mid,
Peyz picked Senna ADC,
and Lehends picked Nautilus support.
BLG banned Lee Sin, Tristana, Azir, Corki, and Aurelion Sol,
similar to their previous match against T1, focusing on mid lane bans,
Bin picked Camille top, Xhin picked Sejuani jungle,
Knight picked Ahri mid, Elk picked Kalista ADC,
and ON picked Ashe support.
The early game was a balanced matchup,
but Bin's Camille and Knight's Ahri, who was on a 27-win streak,
along with ON's Ashe's aggressive bottom lane play,
successfully dived and destroyed the bottom lane.
Ultimately, BLG
took the win in Game 1.
Game 2 featured an exciting draft with
a combined 7 mid lane bans,
making for a very interesting pick and ban phase.
Gen.G's Chovy picked Yone mid, and Canyon picked Nidalee jungle,
playing a counter-card to the opponent's mid lane ban strategy.
Top lane saw the reliable pick of K'Sante, and bottom lane remained the same as the previous game,
with Senna ADC and Nautilus support.
BLG picked Jax top, Sejuani jungle, Orianna mid,
and kept Kalista ADC and Ashe support from the previous game.
Canyon's Nidalee, with her swift jungle clear,
set the stage for a dominant performance,
and Chovy's fantastic Yone superplays
turned the tide, leading Gen.G to victory in Game 2.
In Game 3, BLG picked K'Sante top,
Tristana mid, Senna ADC, Tahm Kench support,
and Diana jungle,
Gen.G chose Poppy top, continuing with Nidalee jungle from the previous game,
and this time, Chovy brought out Sylas mid,
while picking Kalista ADC and Nautilus support.
Once again, Nidalee's quick jungle clear and growth
enabled constant ganks to the bottom lane,
effectively crushing BLG's bottom lane.
Chovy's Sylas and Peyz's Kalista
carried the team to victory.
In Game 4, BLG finally
banned Nautilus and Senna,
along with Aurelion Sol, Sejuani, and Poppy,
and surprisingly picked K'Sante top, Viego jungle, Kalista ADC, Renata Glasc support,
and, remarkably, picked Syndra mid.
Gen.G responded with a 5-ban strategy against the opponent's mid lane,
banning Neeko, Orianna, Ashe, Ahri, and Taliyah,
and picking Twisted Fate top, Maokai jungle, Corki mid,
Lucian ADC, and Nami support.
With the strong performances of Twisted Fate and Nami,
Gen.G secured victory in Game 4,
ultimately advancing to the finals with a 3:1 score.
Watching the match, both teams displayed exceptional skill,
especially Gen.G's ability to swiftly adapt their strategy after losing Game 1,
making adjustments to their picks and bans and other aspects of their play,
which demonstrated their excellent adaptability and responsiveness.
In particular, I was impressed by their masterful pick and ban phase.
(Their gameplay was exceptional as well.)
With this victory, Gen.G has secured their place in the finals
and gained 4 additional seeds for the World Championship,
allowing more LCK teams to compete in the Worlds tournament.
Congratulations to them on a job well done!
And tomorrow at 6 PM, T1 and G2 will face off,
and I hope to see a post about T1's victory.
